¹     "Let's plan the menu!"
 
²     "Let's plan the games!"
 
³     "What about decorations?"
 
⁴     "Let's get a pinata!"
 
⁵     Everyone had ideas for the huge Cinco de Mayo celebration. The Cactus Creek Club was trying to organize a fiesta, but the meeting itself was sadly disorganized. They had no president, and everyone was trying to out talk everyone else.
 
⁶     Finally Yolanda Perez shrieked, "QUIET!" The others looked with surprise at the petite teenager with the large voice. "That's better," she said. "Gracias. Thank you. I have an idea for helping us all work together. We are the party committee. Let's form subcommittees to handle the various details of the party. Everyone can choose which subcommittee on which they would like to serve."
 
⁷     "Sounds like a plan," Mark Funderburk said. "Name the subcommittees, and I'll write them down."
 
⁸     They decided on a refreshments committee, a decorations committee, a games committee, and an entertainment committee.
 
⁹     "What about a clean-up committee?" Jaybee Dodds asked.
 
¹⁰     "No one ever volunteers to be on a clean-up committee," Bartolo "Bart" Ramirez said with a sigh. "Why don't we say that everyone has to pitch in and help clean up? It won't take long if everyone does their share."
 
¹¹     "What committee will be in charge of the pinata?" Melina McCoy asked. "That's where I want to serve!" Jackson Fairchild was also eager to work on the pinata.
 
¹²     After distributing tasks and discussing viable options with regard to the club's limited budget, the meeting of the Cactus Creek Club was adjourned until the next scheduled meeting.
 
¹³     The next meeting began with progress reports. Each subcommittee shared developments in preparations for the Cinco de Mayo fiesta.
 
¹⁴     Jaybee wanted to share some important facts about the holiday. "Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday celebrated on the 5th of May. It commemorates the smaller Mexican army's defeat of the larger French army on May 5, 1862, in the Batalla de Puebla."
