Sleep for Your Physical Fitness

1     You know you need to eat nutritious foods to stay physically healthy. You know you need to exercise to stay physically fit. But, sleep? How can sleep be an essential part of physical fitness? We all lead such busy, active lives. Why do we need to take so much time out of our day for sleep?
 
2     Sleep is extremely important for your health and safety. You need to get enough sleep in order for your brain to work properly. Did you know that sixty percent of adults in our country have sleep problems? That's certainly not an encouraging statistic.
 
3     Have you ever heard of sleep deprivation? That means lack of sleep. If sleep deprivation occurs for a lengthy time, many negative things may happen. Sleep deprivation can make life seem more stressful, and therefore makes it more difficult for the person to deal with stress on a day-to-day basis. Sleep deprivation increases the likelihood that a person will get sick because it hinders the body's ability to fight infections. Finally, accidents are more common in sleep-deprived individuals because they have more difficulty concentrating and reacting.
