Inventors Hall of Fame
By Sharon Fabian

1     Some little kids love to play with Legos. Each Christmas they ask for a big, new set of the little plastic blocks. They build the new model once. Then they take it apart and throw all of the pieces into a big box. They use their big box of Legos to make all kinds of things. Do you know a little kid like this? Maybe you were one of them.

2     Here is what these kids do with any kind of new toy. They use it once the way it was meant to be used. Then they take it apart and use the parts to make new inventions.

3     Kid inventors love to take machines apart too. To them, an old toaster or an old clock is a great thing to have. By taking things apart, they learn how they work and how they were put together. Maybe it gives them some ideas for inventions of their own.

4     Some kids still enjoy these hands-on kinds of activities when they become adults. They still like to make new things and improve on old ones. These are people who may be in the Inventors Hall of Fame one day.

5     The Inventors Hall of Fame is in Akron, Ohio. Each year a few more inventors are chosen to be part of the Hall of Fame. Here are a few of them.
