Shelli Thinks About Sharing on a Submarine
By Beth A. Beutler

Shelli whistled along with the popular tune. It was 1968, and the Beatles song "Yellow Submarine" was all over the radio. Shelli loved to turn her radio up really loud and dance around her room in her tie-dyed dress. In fact, she was doing that now.

Shelli's older sister, Tabby, banged on the door.

"Shelli!" Tabby barked. She knocked louder. "Shelli!"

"What?" Shelli called above the radio.

     "Let me in!"

Shelli danced across her blue shag carpet and opened the door. She continued dancing after her sister walked in.

     Tabby started, "May I borrow..."

"Shh!" Shelli cried. "I'm listening to the Beatles!"

Tabby rolled her eyes. Thank goodness the song was almost over. She was not a Beatles fan.

When the song ended, Shelli stopped dancing and flicked her long hair over her shoulders. "Now, what do you want?"

"I need to borrow a pen."
