A Trip to the Library
By Patti Hutchison

Katie called her friend Allison. "What are you up to?" she asked.

"I'm going to the library," Allison said, "do you want to go with me?"

"The library," Katie said, "what are you going there for? It's so boring!"

"I love to go to the library!" Allison exclaimed. "There's so much to do there. Come with me; I'll show you."

Katie couldn't think of anything better to do right then. She told Allison she would go with her.

When they got to the library Katie said, "OK, we're here. Show me what's so exciting. It looks like a bunch of old, boring books to me. And you have to be so quiet."

"You have to be quiet so you don't bother people who are trying to work. But you can still whisper," Allison told her.

They began to walk around. Katie noticed people working at computers. Some were typing. Some were searching the Internet.

"I didn't know there were computers at the library!" Katie said eagerly. "I can look for the CD I want on the Internet."
