Exercise - Get Moving!
By Patti Hutchison

1     Do you want to be stronger, leaner, happier, and have more energy? Who doesn't? But how? The answer is exercise.

2     Video games and TV shows have made many teens couch potatoes. This is a serious problem. Not only are they not getting their homework done, they are becoming fat.

3     But what teen wants to spend time on a treadmill or jumping rope? That's BORING! But exercise doesn't have to be boring. Getting your body moving can be fun as well as being good for you.

4     Choose something you like to do. Run, roller skate, dance,or play basketball. Or, better yet, do all of them. (Not at the same time!) If you find something you like to do, you will likely keep doing it. If you vary your activities, you won't get bored and quit. Find some friends who like to do the same activities. You will keep each other going.

5     So, what is so great about exercising? What will it do for you? Plenty! Exercise makes your heart healthy. This is very important. Your heart pumps blood to all parts of your body. The blood contains oxygen that keeps your muscles healthy.
