The Seannachie
By Kathleen W. Redman

Pat was a Seannachie. A Seannachie is an Irish storyteller.

He walked from place to place. He told the children stories. He told them about the Little People. He told them about good times.

He told the adults stories, too. He told them about the Little People. He told them about good times. He told them about bad times, too.

Yesterday Pat walked a very long way. It was getting dark. Pat was tired.

"It is too far to walk to the next town," Pat said to himself. "I am too tired. I will lie down under a tree. I will go to sleep there."

Pat found a tall tree. The tree had long branches. It was thick with leaves. It was a very old tree.

"This is a good place to sleep," Pat said aloud.

He gathered up some leaves. He put them under the tree. He made a soft bed. Everything was ready.

Pat lay down on the leaves. He put his head against the tree.

"Tell them about me," a voice said. The voice was very soft. It was hard to hear.
