Armor and Helmets-Decked Out Dinosaurs
By Colleen Messina

1     Did you ever play dress up? Its fun to get all decked out in hats, helmets, and armor! Some dinosaurs looked like they played dress up, too. They were born with their fancy outfits. These dinosaurs had many unusual parts.

2     Some dinosaurs looked like they were wearing face masks. These dinosaurs were called Ceratopsids. They were also called horned dinosaurs. They had armor-plated skulls. They also had big horns. They were plant eaters. Some were the size of a dog. Others were as big as an elephant! They lived in herds. They used their horns for defense.

3     One strange horned dinosaur was a small one named Psittacosaurus. He walked on two legs. He had a beak like a parrot. His name means "parrot lizard." He was only three feet tall. He ate tough plants with his beak. He looked like a bird with two arms instead of wings.
