Who Invented Chopsticks?
By Vickie Chao

1     How do you eat your food? Some people use forks and knives. Some use their hands. And some, like the Chinese, use chopsticks.

2     Chopsticks, or kuaizi in Chinese, are a pair of slender sticks usually made of wood or bamboo. For more than 3,000 years, the Chinese have been using these utensils for their everyday meals. Holding the pair of sticks between the thumb and fingers of one hand, they can pick up any bits of food with these tools. The food item can be big, or it can be small. It can be square-shaped, or it can be round. No matter what the food is like, there is no problem!

3     Granted, chopsticks are not the easiest thing to use when it comes to eating. So you may wonder why the Chinese invented them in the first place.
