Me Llamo Pablo
By Kathleen W. Redman

     "Buenos dias! Me llamo Pablo."

"Boys and girls, this is Pablo," Mr. Miles said. "He is in third grade at our school."

"Hi, Pablo," the children said. "Why is Pablo in our class today?"

"Pablo came to tell us about coming to our country. We are going to learn about immigration. Pablo's story will help us," Mr. Miles explained.

"Have you been here a long time? Do you speak English? How old are you? How old were you when you came here? Are your parents here? How did you get here?" the children asked.

"Wait, slow down," Mr. Miles laughed. "Pablo will answer your questions. Just give him a chance!"

"I came to this country with my father, my mother, and my little sister," Pablo said. "I was only three years old. I spoke only Spanish then. Now I can speak English, too."

"What country are you from?" Suri asked.

"I am from Spain," Pablo said. "I was born in Madrid, the capital of Spain."
