Fit for a King

1     It would be a test of endurance. Raphael had to run a swift race over a massive obstacle course to qualify for the monarchy's physical fitness award. He had already traveled to America to earn the Presidential Fitness Award, but he wanted to win it in his home country of England.

2     Raphael had been born into poverty, but his parents were swift to reinforce values of hard work and good character. As he got older, he worked hard at both growing physically and mentally. He dreamed of someday being the owner of a business that would be a massive enterprise. He knew that being healthy would be a good start for future success. So, right now, he worked hard to be strong and physically fit. He ate well, usually avoiding desserts except for an occasional ice cream cone. He often ran on a large expanse of hilly land outside the city and would exercise daily even if he felt too sluggish to do so.

3     As he crept through a tunnel, the first of the obstacles for the challenging course, he released his wandering thoughts and concentrated on the task at hand. Working hard, he passed the test in an impressive time, meeting all the requirements. Happily, he sat down to rest and catch his breath, proud of what his hard work had accomplished. But with his big dreams, he knew this was just the beginning.
