Nonessential Information


Use commas to separate the nonessential information in a sentence.
Nonessential information adds information to a sentence, but doesn't change the meaning of the sentence.

Everybody in our class wants to go hiking. Jack, however, is going to the library instead.
Our weather, which is very dry at times, can change suddenly.
    



Rewrite each sentence using the correct punctuation.
1.  My cousin Jonathan won a medal at the track competition.

2.  Karen's mother Mrs. Johnson is the school nurse.

3.  Math my favorite subject can sometimes be a little difficult.

4.  We invited John our best friend to the theater.

5.  John Nash a Nobel Prize winner is a brilliant mathematician.

6.  Six Flags an amusement park has many rides for small children to enjoy.

7.  We had pancakes my favorite meal for breakfast this morning.

8.  Tim can as far as I know finish the project without any help.
